While there are many places that offer a luxury experience on the south coast of California, the Hotel Californian in Santa Barbara is one of our favorites. The boutique and concierge hospitality matches beautifully with the high standards of the most luxurious big names across the globe.
Taylor and John chose to get ready and host their wedding reception here, while their ceremony was held at the beautiful Santa Barbara Courthouse.
This wedding was actually very small and intimate, which is one of the things that made my heart sing the most, but the true obsession is for the absolutely incredible architectural aspect that our bride and groom, alongside with their wedding planner Santa Barbara Elopement, designed their wedding day around.
The Hotel Californian in Santa Barbara is a pillar of history for the famous beach town and its design and architecture is unmatched. A mix of Moroccan style fuses with modern and elegant finishes, creating the right dose of funk as its designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard wanted. Truly if you’re looking for Hollywood-level glamour while wanting a boutique hideaway experience, this is the perfect venue for your event whether you’re planning a local or a destination wedding.
Whereas other beach hotels might feature a swell of rattan pieces, sea-blue art, and white linens, Hotel Californian in Santa Barbara favors graphic wallpapers, gold snake sconces, and emerald green club chairs. Bullard said he looked to the great hotels by Gio Ponti in 1950s, where the Italian architect invigorated period buildings with custom modern furniture. And if you know anything about me, you know I love anything that holds Italian’s inspiration.
Now conjugate this beautiful backdrop with an elegant, romantic and very intimate wedding event and you find yourself a match made in heaven. Not sure yet? Take a look at the gorgeous photos below!
